I build high quality Warre Hives using local English Cedar - this has a low carbon footprint having not been imported from Canada or the like but is beautiful on the eye and nose and will last a long time. Cedar is the best timber for beehives as it is resistant to rot and wood-boring insects and tends not to warp and crack when exposed to changing climates.
I have taken the standard hive design and made what I think are some improvements; my base provides a sturdy wide platform to give stability to the rather tall, slim Warré design; my window shutters are simple and ergonomic and are tight fitting with 4 cedar catches. I provide the bees with a generous landing board, something I think greatly adds to the bees wellbeing enabling them to warm up before flight during cooler periods. The cedar I use is very beautiful, smells great and should last a long time. Other than the ply base and roof board, my beehives are constructed entirely from English cedar. I use stainless steel screws and glued joints throughout. I think you will agree that these hives offer your bees a cosy home and will look fantastic in your garden. I also think my prices offer great value for money.
What the customers say..."the hive is arrived now in perfect condition. All constructive elements assembles perfectly: my compliments to you. I’m happy for this purchase, it was well worth the money!" - Antonio G, Verona, Italy "My bees are snuggled up at the moment and hopefully will come through the winter. I would like to get another hive set up for this spring - I like them with the windows, and I think your design is very good." - Linda B, Oxon "Thank you for the hive it is beautiful" - Tony G, Cheshire "The hive building day was superb - one of the best days ever! My two little ones really enjoyed helping and we are eagerly awaiting spring to get it full of bees." - On my hive building workshop at Greystoke Cycle Cafe, Penrith "Hive arrived yesterday . Looks great, hope the bees like it as much as me." - Tony G, Surrey "Many thanks for a most informative and interesting weekend – I thoroughly enjoyed the course and feel much more confident about starting again with the bees." - Jane T, Cumbria |
